Fees, Sponsorships and Donations
It is traditional to settle outstanding shul membership fees prior to the Days of Awe. We know that many of our members are feeling the pinch, but if you are in a position to settle your outstanding fees, it will help take much of the strain off the shul’s finances.
Membership dues don’t go very far when it comes to covering the running expenses of Beit Luria. As a result, we are always looking for sponsors and donations towards our services, events, speakers, Cantors and operational costs. Your donation or sponsorship, whether large or small, full or partial, recognised or anonymous, is always welcome. Our aim is to be here for Progressive Jews as a home where they are always welcome as they are, whoever they are, to look out for their spiritual and community support for decades to come. This is not possible without you.
This year, we have two additional areas for which we would like to find funding. Both relate to the reality that for some time to come, our services will have to take place digitally:
- Exploring new and more sophisticated forms of musical presentation, adapted to an online environment.
- Upgrading our technology to enable us to deal with the complexities of streaming hybrid services (partly in person, partly online) in a more user-friendly manner.
Did you know that it is the tradition that in accepting an honour or reading during a service, a donation is made to the shul in return? Whether is R180 or R1800 every bit helps us grow. We so look forward to sharing meaningful events, services and High Holy Days with you.
Here are some ideas on when, what and how you can donate or sponsor:
- Sponsor a service in a loved one’s name or memory
- A gift voucher in the form of a donation in somebody else’s name
- Erev Shabbat Kiddush
- Shabbat morning Kiddush
- Tree of Life leaves, donation amounts based on leaf sizes varying from R180 per leaf
- Lecture series sponsorship
- Rabbinic services – fees on request
- Naming ceremonies
- Brit milahs
- Bat Mitzvahs
- Bar Mitzvahs
- Weddings
- Funerals
- Burial
- Burial and service
- Memorial services
